Japanese Androids Train for First Ever Robot Marathon

These four robots will contest the world's first ever robot marathon next Thursday in Osaka.

Today’s outing is only a practice run.

At next week’s race the robots will run around the track 422 times to clock up the 26.2 miles needed for a full marathon.

Even if they are controlled by humans, the race will be a super-human feat… it will likely take four days to complete.

The robots can be tweaked for repairs and their batteries can be changed.

But if they fall over they will have to get up on their own.

[Robovie-PC, Robot Contestant]:
"You've got to stretch to prevent injuries and aim to complete the marathon."

The robots were all built to promote Osaka’s Technological prowess.
